Controller and contact
The data controller is Daniel Gabriel Costeanu, Milan. Costeanu Labs is the project’s brand name, not a company. For privacy requests, write to privacy@costeanulabs.com.
Contact form
What we ask for. Your name, email address and the text of your message. All three are needed to reply to you. Please do not include data that is not needed, such as health or financial information.
What the server records. Besides what you write, the date and time it was sent, whether forwarding by email succeeded and whether the controller has read the message.
What we use it for. Only to read your message and reply to you, at the address you provide. No newsletters, advertising or profiling.
Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in replying to people who write (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Messages may be questions, feedback or proposals that are not always linked to a contract, and processing is limited to what you expect when you write. You can object at any time. Writing is optional, but without a name, email and message we cannot reply.
Where it is kept and who sees it. The message is saved in a Cloudflare D1 database, which Cloudflare reports as located in Western Europe, without a formal EU jurisdiction constraint. A copy is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the controller’s Gmail inbox. Only the controller reads it, from the site’s protected admin area and from their own inbox.
How long. Messages are deleted automatically after 12 months, or sooner if you ask. A daily automatic check removes older ones from the database. The controller deletes the copy in the inbox within the same time.
Remaining copies. After deletion, the message may remain for up to 30 days in Cloudflare D1’s restore history. Backups of the database, downloaded before site updates, stay in a private folder on the controller’s computer and are used only to restore the site. Only the 5 most recent backups are kept and older ones are deleted with each new backup. A message already deleted online may therefore remain in these backups until they are replaced.
Protection against automated requests
To limit abuse, the server counts messages coming from the same IP address and rejects those above 5 in 15 minutes. It does not store the IP address in plain text, but a fingerprint calculated with a secret key. This is pseudonymous data, deleted by the daily automatic cleanup once it is more than 24 hours old. A hidden anti-spam field causes automated requests to be ignored without storing anything. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the form and the site from abuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Contributions with PayPal
The contribution button is a plain link to the controller’s paypal.me page. The site does not embed PayPal buttons, scripts or other components. Contributions are voluntary and you choose the amount. A contribution is not a purchase and starts no subscription.
Payment takes place on PayPal’s website, which processes your data as an independent controller under its privacy statement. This site does not receive card details or PayPal credentials.
The controller receives the information PayPal shares with anyone who receives a payment, such as name, email, amount, date and any message. It is used to record the contribution, answer questions, handle any refunds and meet legal obligations (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). It remains in the controller’s PayPal account history for as long as these purposes and the law require.
Technical browsing data and hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. To show you the pages, the server receives technical data such as your IP address, date and time, the requested page and your browser type. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Logging for the site is disabled. Cloudflare processes the traffic data needed to deliver the pages and protect its network.
The site does not use analytics tools, advertising pixels, external fonts or external scripts, and sets no cookies for visitors. Your language choice stays only in your browser’s storage, and you can clear it in your browser settings. The admin area’s technical cookies are used only by the controller to sign in.
Recipients and transfers
Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St., San Francisco, United States) hosts the site with Cloudflare Workers, stores data in Cloudflare D1 and uses Cloudflare Email Routing to forward contact form messages and those written to privacy@costeanulabs.com, as a processor under its data processing addendum.
Google (Gmail). These messages arrive in a Gmail inbox of the controller, where they stay for the times given above. Google also processes them under its own privacy policy, which describes any transfers outside the European Union.
PayPal. For contributions, as described above.
Public authorities. Only where required by law.
Data is not sold or passed on to third parties.
Transfers. Pages and requests pass through Cloudflare’s global network and may also be processed outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Cloudflare participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its addendum includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as described in its privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask for access, rectification, erasure and restriction of your data, for portability where it applies, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to privacy@costeanulabs.com. You will receive a reply within one month, unless extended in the cases provided for by the GDPR.
You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live or work. We take no automated decisions and create no profiles.
Changes
This page is updated if the processing changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
Privacy
Base giuridica. Il legittimo interesse a rispondere a chi scrive (art. 6, par. 1, lett. f, GDPR). Puoi opporti in qualsiasi momento.
Dove restano e chi li vede.
Google (Gmail).
PayPal. Per i contributi, come descritto sopra.
Autorità pubbliche. Solo se richiesto dalla legge.
I dati non vengono venduti né ceduti a terzi.
Trasferimenti. Cloudflare aderisce all’EU-U.S.
I tuoi diritti
